Has anyone come across a camshaft lobe not being central to the tappet guide?
No 1 exhaust lobe (most rearward), is approx 3mm to the left of central, just enough for the lobe to be touching the guide under certain circumstances, and creating a rattle.
Whether this a faulty camshaft I am not sure?

Hi Simon..the lobe dosnt action the tappet centrally....it strikes it slightly offset....so that the tappet actually turns a bit with each sweep.....if it acted central then the tappet would wear...Steve...PS cam endfloat is taken by the flanges on each side of the front bearing...service manual page B.32
