I’ve seen some previous posts about using this system as a much cheaper alternative to EZ steer.
Has anyone actually completed this and would be prepared to do a bit of a write up ?
I think it was in an older copy of the e type club magazine but I no longer subscribe.
Regards
Tim

Hi Tim,
Did you ever find anyone able to share a write up?
My E Type was stolen on a trip to Monza, subsequently found and is currently going through the workshop for repairs.
I had previously met and chatted with Rod Shears about this MGF upgrade and have a wiring diagram from him.
However, it has been over 5 years since we discussed this idea and I continued to drive the E Type without the mod. It is only now that the car is in bits that I thought about doing the upgrade and would be grateful for as much info as possible on the process and parts needed.
I have the MGF Column, a piece of metal that Rod gave me, which I cant for the life of me think what it was for, and his wiring diagram. I have a link to a ebay pulse generator, but unsure if it is the correct component.
I dont have a spare column, which I would have preferred for being able to retain original parts.
Any insights any one can shed would be very much appreciated.
I have emailed Rod to see if he can help.

Is this something you'd put in a lathe and machine down the diameter to make the new column parts dovetail to the Jaguar parts?
kind regards

Hi Paul,
I never managed to get a reply to my thoughts/ post on this.
In the end I fitted an EZsteer unit. Haggled hard with the supplier and much to my shame played them against each other !
Straightforward to fit and as good as the reports suggest.
My car has the collapsible column which isn’t used on the EZteer unit so it’s available to anyone.

Hi Marek,
I think you have hit the nail on the head there.
You kindly connected me with Rod a few years ago. Are you still in touch? I have had not reply to my email and I have since found a post that suggests he might have passed away, which would be a very sad loss to the community.

Hi Tim,
Interesting. I can see myself following suit if I cant get to the bottom of the install aspects.
Did you ever find the Article that Rod produced for the E Type Magazine or was it the JEC magazine?

The steering column needs a small yoke machined to bridge the slightly different diameters of the two.
It was the etype club magazine, a small colour booklet iirc. I think Rod gave me a pdf copy of the articles, but I won't find it without looking on an old computer. Maybe I only had A4 colour printouts - I can't remember.
Sadly, you are correct:- Rod is no longer with us.
kind regards
Marek
