#1 Whire wheel spoke diameter

Post by Philippe-J. » Sat Jun 14, 2025 6:44 am

Hi,

I have to replace one of the wire wheel spokes that I found broken when I bought the car. Wheel are original, so are their spokes.
I purchase a new spoke from a reputed supplier and discovered that its profile is not the same as the original: the base is thicker

I agree this is not a huge discrepancy wrt the others, but is there any place where I can find regular spokes?

Thanks.

Philippe, have you spoken to MWS (mwsint.com)? No idea if they supply the usual suppliers!

Yes Geoff, indeed the spokes I purchased from MWS.
David, I'll contact the 2 suppliers you indicate, thank you.

Steve,
The problem of used wire wheels is that the first failing components are the spokes and their ends, usually rusting...

Nice idea Steve, I did not think of that one.
However, if I judge from my original wheels, all spokes of which are sized and can't be taken apart, buying an old wheel might be a false solution  .

Not easy to remotely look at what I am buying.
But... would there be any good people among those who have purchased complete wheels just for their spokes, that would accept to sell me one "long" original spoke?
I am opening a thread in the "wanted / for sale" section about that request.
