Does anyone know where I can get a replacement spring for the window regulator? The rest of the mechanism is in good working order.
Thanks.

Richard, other Jaguars of the period used a similar window regulator, and probably the same spring. A search on fleabay could give you a result. Also chat with people like Ken Jenkins
https://www.ukjag.co.uk/store/ who might be able to help source one for you.

Thank you. I have dropped him an email. I have found quite a few items for corvettes but nothing for a jag. Sometimes referred to as a clock/flat/recoil spring. R

Hi Rich, my friendly buddy has a pair of winder mechanisms that he will never use and I asked if he would sell you a spring, he said he would if the mechanisms, gears etc. were in any other condition than perfect. We examined them this morning and they have been covered in Wax oil many years ago and they look to be in as new condition, all the teeth and the rest all seem perfect. He said it would be a shame to split them up but if you wished to make him an offer he would sell them or just one to you at a very reasonable price. I can supply photos in a day or two if you are interested, he was told they were from a 1970 Series 2 FHC, best regards, John.

Hi John, that’s very kind of you to help. However, like your friend,I wouldn’t want to split good condition parts. A quick check on eBay for previous sales shows that they could be worth north of £100 each.
I have my eye on a Morris Minor mechanism, as Steve has suggested, circa £20 new, I’ll report back once I get round to it.
Currently I’m getting my tub ready for blasting this coming week… a date that is long overdue!
Thanks all!

Hi again Richard, I don't think my pal is looking for anything like the price you have mentioned, I will see him later and ask what his expectations are. Regarding your tub being blasted, Over the years I have had a lot of shells and body panels blasted and it is a very mixed bag of results. You need to take great care of who you choose to do the blasting. If they are used to doing cast iron heavy duty items and not body panels you could end up with a lot of expensive damage. I found the best way was to find a body-shop/restorer in your area who has a "favourite" blaster, take them a small piece to see if they know what you need it to be finished like. Good luck with this as it took me several years to find a guy who knew what was needed, regards John.
