#1 Series 1 clutch/brake reservoirs and missing hoses

I have just picked up a series 1 2+2 that was partially restored by a previous owner before sitting for a while. There are a few oddities in the engine bay that I am trying to figure out.

The first is the 2 fluid reservoirs on the drivers side (RHS - UK car). One is clutch, the other brake. However, the left hand bottle in the pic that has the sensor in the top connects to the clutch master cylinder, and RH reservoir connects to the brake master. Surely the sensor should be on the brake reservoir? What is the correct configuration for a series 1 4.2 car?

Second quick question - I think that there is probably a hose missing from the crankcase breather (I presume) to the airbox:

I presume that the slightly corroded breather should connect to the airbox with a flexi hose?

Thanks!

Hi,
Don't know your name please add a signature block.
Your observations are correct, the bottle with sensor should be on the brakes and there is a short rubber hose and jubilee clips required to connect the breather to air filter assembly. Of note, your bottles should be the other way around, the clutch (with small top) to the outside.

Many thanks - signature now added!

If anyone knows the diameter of the breather hose that would be a big help! Otherwise I will trial and error it.

Hi Simon,
Mine is ID 22.5mm and length 56.5mm. It looks to be 5mm thick wall so approx 27.5mm OD.

These maths don't seem right. Surely, it's add twice the wall thickness? :studyinggray:

My mistake, 32.5mm OD approximate, :salute:

For anyone finding this later on - the part number for the hose is C25263. Available from Martin Robey with the correct jubilee clips.
