After what’s been a long and expensive body restoration we are close to painting my 1961 OTS RHD.
I’m going back to the Original colour of Opalescent Silver Grey.
What I need is the paint code, lots of different posts about colour codes on the forum.
There seems to be a light OSG and a dark OSG.
Has anyone got the exact codes.
Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Mont, (btw what is your name?) have you looked at this topic?

You are not a million miles away from Angus Moss in Letchworth, why not give him a call to ask if you could visit to see his car? It may sway you one way or another to which you would like. There’s the grey and the gunmetal, both have their adherents.

Hi Geoff
Thanks for the reply, appreciate your help.
I will be spraying the car OSG as I’m keeping the car as Original as possible.
I also like the colour which helps, so just need the correct paint code.
Don’t want to go down a rabbit hole on whats the best colour.Image
Thanks
Steve

Repeat, ask Alistair at Moss for confirmation.

He has the most up to date information about the exact shade.

His car, that Geoff refers to, and after much research, is painted in PPG reference JAG 8116 M.

So is mine, and the guys that painted it stated that it is only available as a PPG shade.

There are other references for OSG bandied around like 15036 and PO31-2639 ; we think these are wrong, or at least - 60 years down the line - don’t give you the correct shade.

And if we are wrong, then come and be wrong with us.

Rory
That’s exactly what I will do.
Then I know it’s as good as I’m going to get.
Perfect

My recent experience about OSG is that of a labyrinth. My troubles were doubled by the fact that I am in France, so difficult access to UK paint providers, and that said original reference were night impossible to find today. I also found the "original" OSG on photos a bit dark to my taste, or too much "bare brushed aluminium" aspect for the light shade, see Clausager's book cover (even if the car paint appears non original). After a long investigation & some discussions here I elected a false OSG, I mean a one by Aston Martin, from an earlier period (2002+): reference AST 1180. I was appealed by its light greenish shade, or should I say bronze.
I'll be following your quest in order to know about modern available codes for the right OSG, which remains a mystery to me :scratchheadyellow:
