#1 Starter failure solved ?

Post by Polse7317 » Thu Nov 06, 2025 1:08 pm

I have since some years an intermittent issue with my high torque starter ( wosp) it works fine when the car is cold and sometimes i hear only a "click" when i push the button. It starts finaly after many pushes.
I have replaced the starter some years ago and the new one ( same WOSP) has the same failure after +- one year.
I have checked the earth connection, tested the solenoïde on the bench ( no problem) (BTW what a pain to take it out ....) finaly, i brought it to an car electrician and he seems to diagnose the problem :
It is a bad contact inside the solenoïd The central shaft which has a round copper plate must have an equal contact with the 2 "plugs" A and B in the casing. When you look inside, there is a difference between the two copper plugs. One seems roughly grinded , the other one has much less marks of contact.
Now i must adjust thoroughly the level of the 2 copper contact plugs.
I'll post the result when it will be done....!
