Hi has anyone tried the oil pressure sender from Classic Jaguar. They claim it is made to OE spec £144 but is it just a generic one selling for more money.

Don't waste your money, install a mechanical oil pressure gauge for much better accuracy. Details in the 'Upgrades' part of the Forum.

As above, fit a wet gauge and be done with it. All the senders are unreliable.

It's not original. Position of the terminal is the giveaway Original had the terminal in the centre, this one has it on the side. The difference is dictated by the internals. The original with centre terminal was a Smiths bi-metalic type that was passably accurate when paired with our bi-metallic gauges; NLA. The senders with the side terminals are resistive type, substituted by Caerbont, that do not work well with original Smiths gauges, not accurate or reliable.

I have now ordered wet gauge, with nylon pipe as recommended in thread thanks for your help.

Hi I lowered gauge panel, I found voltage regulator is connected to oil pressure gauge is this correct for a 63 car

Adam, have you looked at the wiring diagram? You’ll see the voltage regulator is connected to the oil pressure gauge. Maybe you’re misinterpreting what you are seeing. Check which terminals that wire is going to and maybe it is on the correct one

Sorry I read a post that said its not connected to voltage regulator

Post I read said it is only used for temp and fuel gauge ,

To be clear, the oil pressure gauge, as original, operates from battery voltage. It receives this battery voltage off the INPUT terminal on the dash voltage regulator, not from the regulated voltage of the dash voltage regulator.

If you are fitting as you mention above, a mechanical oil pressure gauge, then the only electrical connection would be for an illumination bulb.
