Hi there

Still plugging away on our S1DHC RHD 1965 restoration (8 years in, but we now have fabulous bodywork and the engine/gearbox/clutch are fitted...). Re: the original brake servo (c26024), what was the original finish on the "drum" part? (Looks like it was "Hammerite silver" which I'm assuming was not original, as the car has had a "sort-of refurb" in the long distant past).I've seen pics of one painted a strange green. Sadly all the usual resources are of no help on this one. (By the way, the Haddock & Mueller book, whilst expensive and huge, is pretty good for most "originality" questions. Clausager's "Factory Original" book is also quite handy).

Thanks!
Rebecca

Don't know if this helps but S3s which commenced build in 1970, so a few years later than your S1, had the vacuum chamber of the servo finished in yellow cadmium plating according to Richard Ross in his book Guide to Authenticity.

This is an original 1971 servo.

(Yellow cadmium refers to cadmium plating, which is a silver gray finish, plus a layer of sodium dichromate for additional protection, which gives it a yellowish tint).
