#1 FUEL PIPE IN THE BOOT

Post by Stevemorris » Wed Jun 03, 2026 1:48 pm

Hi all,

I have a question, can't remember this one but its too long ago and never really spent much time looking in the boot..

My cars rear fuel pipe (tank to pump & pump to rear bulkhead banjo bolt) is rubber hose. I thought from memory it should be 5/16 Kunifer copper pipe? Could someone please post a picture of their cars pipe arrangement?

Thanks,

Steve.

My 64 3.8 has white nylon pipe with tight barbed fittings, as I believe most other models have, also same pipes through to the glass filter bowl and then on to the metal carbs connector pipe.

Hi Steve

Randall is right. Originally, for the 4.2 cars, there will have been white translucent plastic tube from the fuel pickup to the pump and from pump to rear bulkhead connector. From the rear bulkhead connector to the fuel filter on the front bulkhead it was originally a steel pipe, now commonly replaced with cunifer.

The white pipe is available if you want to restore to original but some people replace it with ethanol friendly pipe.

Regards
Stuart

Hi chaps, many thanks for the replies. Yes I do now remember that almost white pipe, I think I may go for some Kunifer as you suggest. I’ve had a look on the SNGB WEBSITE and that’s what they supply although at their prices I’ll make my own!

Best regards,

Steve.

I don't think ethanol is detrimental to the white nylon pipe, which is available from hydraulic supply companies at next to no cost.
