Hi Folks I have a problem with my brakes, servo I think, no assist. Whilst investigating the pipework the reinforced rubber just broke of with the plastic bottom of the reservoir still in it, I guess it's just age but I thought theses items were virtually indestructible and yes all the brake fluid discharged beneath it.

John, there have, sadly, been quite a few reports of the outlet being broken off, especially with new reservoirs. There have been enough complaints that I believe SNGB have reworked their replacement reservoirs. Whether one of those will solve the problem, I’m not sure. Try a search on reservoir and you may well find some of the discussions.

Was there a steel pipe with a mesh filter, in the lower outlet? My original bottles have this, not sure if yours may have been left out at some point, or in fact if it is simply not included with re-manufactured bottles. It certainly gives some reinforcement, but not sure it will solve all the problems, but It will certainly prevent crushing and subsequent weakening when tightening the hose clamps. I don't think it has a separate part number, and very difficult to find images online. The attached image just shows the end of the steel tube protruding, and there is a nylon mesh filter attached to the opposite end, sitting in the base of the bottle.

Thanks for the replies, I had replaced the originals some years ago which had the mesh and pipe and foolishly replaced with reproduction crap. I did not know about the improved version so will no doubt receive more sub standard stuff. I may try and insert a small piece of copper tubing in the outlet pipe which would a) strengthen the outlet and b) if protuded a little into the reservoir would act as a trap for sediment. Though the flow would be less it should be okay.

Hi Folks just to keep you updated, my reservoir arrived and surprise, surprise it was a sng barret one though purchased on ebay.
