#1 camber setting

hi, following my suspension rebuild i need to reset the castor and camber.
if i ask a garage to determine the current camber setting by gauge can I then measure the shim thickness and convert into degrees of change?
not sure if this makes sense but I am trying to avoid the cost of paying for a specialist to move these shims about.
any thoughts?

I'm pretty sure Haynes lists the camber change per shim thickness, or try searching on Jag Lovers E-type forum where this has been covered many times.

Tim,
That's exactly what I did. Took it to a laser alignment shop, got a printout of the readings and added/removed shims to get the correct figures. The only 2 that needed adjustment were castor (front) and camber (rear).
The service manual states that each 0.020" shim at the rear changes camber by 0.25 deg, there is probably a similar description about the front. The front castor changes by 0.4 deg per turn of the fulcrum shaft.
