#1 Pre delivery Inspection

Post by snowdmc » Fri Jul 29, 2011 2:12 pm

So i have what some may say is the good fortune of having all new carpets for my e-type:

any idea where all the bits go, is this like buying a 1000 piece jigsaw from a charity shop?

My actual question which i think i already know the answer to, is should i take the opportunity to heat proof using koolmat or similar, and which are the UK suppliers?

Also how do the carpets fit? a couple of aerosol glue cans?

Many Thanks

Without doubt install Koolmat on the interior and make sure you have the heat shields installed under the silencers. KoolMat is only available from the US and can be bought in cut kit form or, more cheaply, on a roll. http://www.koolmat.com/

It lists E-Type Fabs LTD on its distributor list based in darlington, i'll give them a ring and see if they stock it, can't see it on their site though.

just out of interest, buying bulk is obviously cheapest and worthwhile if u cant access bulkhead etc. DO u have a rough guesstimate of how much sq footage is needed?

i was thinking around 15sq ft?

+1 for Koolmat. I just completed 2000 miles through Europe and heat soak was not a major problem. Another plus point is that if the joints between pieces are properly sealed, the Koolmat makes the floorpan waterproof so the inevitable water leaks into the cabin don't reach the metal - simply lift the carpets out and mop the water up.

And fixed heads can leak almost as much as open cars - a lot of leakage can come from the door seals rather than the hood seals.

Thanks for the seal of approval 'pun intended', handy to know about products that multiple forum users approve of, thanks to all, will let you know if the UK distributor still exists
