#1 RE. 45DM6 Ignition distributor swap

Post by Echezeaux » Sun Aug 14, 2011 8:54 am

No replies to my previous post. So I will ask in a different way .

Could someone who has access to a XJ6 S3 tell me how the amplifier AB14 is connected to the coil eg : where go the white with black trace wire and the plain white wire ?
Is an ignition ballast present ?

Maybe Mister Peter Crespin can help me on this one.

Again many thanks in advance.

The amplifier is connected to the matching distibutor and the coil harness by twin female spade plugs on adjacent sides There is no connection direct from dizzy to coil.

You can make the connections to the four male terminals of the amp module by using appropriately-sized normal spade connectors if you wish. Since the amp requires the matching dizzy, then at least those two should be easy as the dizzy will have the plug to go into the side of the amp. The XJ6 Haynes manual has the wiring diagram as a separate schematic just for this circuit IIRC.

No ballast required if you use a normal 12V coil suited to electronic ignition.
