Just stripped the interior of my S2 OTS. Body looks good underneath the old carpets, but there is lots of old adhesive which needs removing, along with strands from the jute underfloor mats. Anyone have any suggestions on how to remove the old adhesive?

Try thinners and a good sharp scraper. Evostick sell glue remover you can get it from B&Q or similar.

If you don't want to remove the paint as well, use kitchen roll soaked in petrol and left for 10 minutes. The adhesive softens up so you can then rub it off.

Thanks - will try the petrol method as I assume the thinners will remove the paint also.

If you don't want the smell and fumes from petrol ordinary turps will do the job without removing the paint, just brush it on and leave for a few moments to soften and then use a plastic (not metal) scraper and kitchen roll.

Thinners will not remove the original paint, or it didnt on my car. In my experiance and after removal of trim and carpets I soaked and soaked the surfaces with thinners then scraped and washed until original Jaguar surface was revealed. Also my car had been painted another colour with lots of overspray :-(

By using thinners I have washed away the crappy overpaint, revealing the original factory finnish. The bonnet is now original red on the underside and re- paint silver on the outside same as boot and boot lid

Just buy the cheapest thinners you can, my body shop man calls it gun thinners as they use for cleaning the spray guns

Hi John,

I have what you need. I use it for old and new neoprene glue and also for the brushes.
All the glue of the seals disapeared after 15/20mn simply by brushing.
This Diluant is not very volatile as the other and it doesn't remove the old paint.
