#1 More mystery bits

Post by skiday » Sat Jan 28, 2012 12:42 pm

I have just been assembling the steering column having fitted new plastic bushes. The manual shows felt bushes, but I only seem to have plastic. I now have some pieces left in the box of bits which I can't see where they go and the manual doesn't seem to show them so they might be from somewhere else???.

Part B looks like it's to do with the horn, and judging by how they fit, parts C & D seem to fit over B, but that's just guessing. Now I have it together the upper universal joint seems to creek and groan when I turn the wheel (which might be a clue to something missing perhaps).

Thanks for your help, as ever.

Whilst posting, has anyone heard of this chap, Pete Longhurst of Hampshire. He advertises on e-bay as e-type restoration at affordable prices;

Any comments welcome as I really need help to finish off my resto.

Andrew,

It took a while to figure how the horn went together since mine was missing, the only way to tell is to get the parts manual it has a blow up of all the parts and how they go together.
I know the usuals sell parts kits but the parts you usually want aren't included!
