#1 If it moves ............

After our recent European trip I noticed the drivers door was a bit stiff so I got around to oiling the hinge today and what a huge difference it made. The door now shuts with a satisfying clunk with the merest flick of the wrist; it would usually rebound before. It then occurred to me I could not remember the last time I had been around the car with an oil can. So adopting the old grease monkey maxim "if it moves oil it" I did the lot - bonnet hinges, bonnet locks, door locks (they have a hole with 'oil' on them which is a bit of a clue), hinges, boot lock, boot hinges, throttle linkage, throttle pedal, wiper bushes and so on with my old force feed oil can filled with engine oil. It is only after you have done the rounds do you realise how silky smooth everything should be. The car is now happily dripping oil in the sun!

Ashamed to admit that whilst I regularly go around the car and do a spanner check, dip the stick and grease the nipples I completely forgot about the oil can ritual than Jaguar detailed in the owners manual.
