Now if the tickover is out on my E I take one flatbladed screwdriver and twiddle a screw or three.
This morning I thought I'd sort out the lumpy tickover on my Range Rover. The first thing to do here is replace the 8 plugs and HT leads (you are wasting your time otherwise). Then I stripped the inlet tract and cleaned the mass airflow meter. Once this was back together I pulled the idle air valve stepper motor and gave this a going over with with carb cleaner. Finally I cleaned and tested the throttle postion indicator pot. Total time nearly two hours. Thankfully I now have a nice stable tickover.
And people ask me if it is difficult using an E Type as an everyday car!
