Hi, I have just renewed the connecting pipes between each set of strombergs with a clear plastic pipe and have just noticed when starting with choke and running at about 2000 rpm that fuel is flowing through the connecter pipes from one carb to the next. I thought these were breather pipes, so is this correct or is something wrong. Thanks for any input.

It's normal.

The choke cable only goes to one carb each side because only one carb each side has, err, a choke. Actually it's extra cold-start fuelling not choking of the air, but still. The connecting tube allows both carbs on each bank to have the extra fuel from one enrichment valve. The tubing was originally black so you didn't see anything.
