I would appreciate some advice on how to fit front and rear heatshields to my '64 3.8 FHC prior to installing exhaust system. There are no obvious mounting brackets or even holes on the underside of the car. My car did not have them fitted so I bought these from SC, thinking it would protect the underbody paint from heat and reduce heat in the cabin. Any advice much appreciated,
David
exhaust heatshields

David,
The front heat shield is screwed to the left hand chassis rail, just use two self tappers.
The rear is held onto the gearbox support. On the front (triangular) heat shield that will be a captive nut on the straight bracket, 3/16" I think. The straight bracket slides over the top of the gearbox support and you simply put the bolt in.
The rear heat shield is held on with 8 pop rivets, you might need extra long ones around 3/4" make sure you drill into the tunnel. The two angles should roughly line up with the back of the floor.
Hope that helps, even though you never bought mine :D
