I was advised to replace the frames during the rebuild and so had a set of ETF frames fitted.

A bit late but I've just been trial fitting the suspension mounting points and the mounts don't fit into the ETF picture frame. The original upper brackets are approx 0.85mm wider than the space within the frame (1.388" v 1.355"). The lower brackets are marginally wider so they will also be an issue.

I'm not sure on the best course of action. I was wondering whether there are 'spreader' type tools that could be use to widen the gap while the bracket is inserted. Any advice would be appreciated!

Presumably the frames have been painted? Could it just be a build up of paint and laquer on both sides, effectively less than 0.5mm?

A quick call to Uryk and all is sorted.

He said they usually just tap in but if too tight he prises open the gap using the end of something like a claw hammer. Although I used a length of wood to avoid damaging the paintwork.

There was just enough play to slot the block in. I was surprised how much you're able to spring the frames apart as it's two sheets thick at the mounting points.
