Removing bonnet panels

Hi all,

I've just finished stripping down the bonnet of my '62 FHC. Don't really want to attack the underside of the bonnet with a gas torch, so can anyone let me know the best way to safely remove all the glued-on brackets, or rather how to remove all the ancient beads of thick glue? There are 12 in total!

I used windscreen removing cheese wire, a heat gun and then this...

It's coarse enough to remove the glue but not attack the metal.

I have used a heat gun , and to scrape the residue off I use a homemade wooden scraper consisting of a chisel shaped piece of 2 X 1 . The cheesecutter wire is a good idea

Ok, so I've now removed all the brackets that were glued to the underside of the centre section of the bonnet. All came off pretty easily in the end.

However, I now need to remove the two backets on the underside of each wing. Straight away they looked different; very closely attached to the wing ( no gap, completely flush) and no sign of any glue. So are these brackets spot welded?

Nope:
Glued on like the others.
There is ONE exception. The transverse stiffening rib at the rear edge of the main panel, This rib is spot welded and glued.
