Having just received Rays kit and started reading the literature, made a start today to realise that the viscous crank damper I bought and fitted some years ago has a three bolt configuration on the alloy polygroove bottom belt pulley, instead of the four which connect the trigger wheel. Ray has suggested a way out of it which requires some expert machining, but I wondered if any other readers with the single polygroove belt conversion have hit this problem while fitting the Edis ?I cannot remember WHY the damper was made with the three bolt configuration in the first place, too long ago to remember .!!

I spotted this when I was considering the NipponDenso alternator kit from Rob Beere. Unfortunately it only comes with the multigroove belt system and the pulleys are wider than stock which would mean the EDIS trigger sensor would be in the wrong place, so I passed. Not got as far as checking the bolts though. Suggest you check the sensor will sit correctly above the trigger wheel before going any further.

Thanks, you're right, pick up mounting is exactly on the two bolts plus spacer required for the alternator, so, looks like I will be looking for a customer for a discounted Edis !!

Depending which kit you have, I *think* it's possible to adapt the 3.8 one to put the sensor on the other side, but not the 4.2 one? Something like that. Check with Ray.

Looks like I have the left sensor as the mount is stepped whereas the two lower bolts on the right side of engine are both on the same vertical plane...BUT!! the bolts are the same size which rules it out for both sides !! have emailed Ray..

I have the Rob Beere multi V fitted to mine and had spacers made to step the sensor and timing wheel out, not difficult at all. Cost ?60.

Edis only producing a spark on no 6...what have I done wrong..info says ten thou gap is ideal, but on google I read that gap is good at 1 m/m...engine started then backfired and died after running for a few seconds ...checked everything to find I had crossed 5 and 6 on the coil pack, because I was NOT wearing my glasses when reading off the numbers!!!! Put them in the right order , then , spark on six only...this is the trouble with electronics and me, what to do next ????

Start by posting in the Megajolt support thread as Ray gets notified automatically and can step in.
In the meantime disconnect the Megajolt and try getting it to run on EDIS alone - it will quite happily although not optimally. Very unlikely there is anything you could do to EDIS or the coil pack to make it unworkable. First thing to check is the connectors to the EDIS unit as they are prone to being too wide when delivered. You can remove each one from the plug and gently crimp them. Next make sure the plug cables are pressed fully home into the coil pack - they are very stiff so need a good push. Next go over the installation and double check you have set things up correctly wearing your glasses! Read through the Megajolt support thread (yes, I know it is a bit long but it has a wealth of information) and we can continue the discussion there.

Problem solved...poor connection..immediate start up, and lumpy tick over is now a thing of the past, will take it up the 303 next week and see how it goes Typical of me to have to remove the trigger wheel after forgetting to loop the polygroove belt around the pulley ..however !! got a more uniform gap against the sensor on re assembly !!
