Well I bought 2 new bowls , fitted the headlamps and fitted them to the mounting points in the sugar scoops. Couldn't get to the screw at the bottom to fix the chrome surround and found out they should have a clip instead of the screw hole on the bowl so the chrome ring just clips on. Bought 2 and fitted them by replacing the clip with the screw hole in . Then discovered clip should be at the top but when I rotate the bowl and keep the headlamp light upright non of the holes align. Has anyone else had this problem and where can I buy some proper bowls with the clip at the top as all I have seen advertised either have the screw or the clip at the bottom. Help appreciated.

All the vendors tend to buy from one source and therefore there should be no differences so all I can think of is you have S1 bowls. Suggest you check the part numbers. Who did you buy off?

I've had a very similar problem with new headlight bowls and have probably gone through most of the offerings from SNG, even quoting the part number. To be fair, they have been very helpful in trying to sort the problem. The two issues I found with their bowls are that they have two brass fittings and the riveted spring attachment is too short and in the wrong place. I've managed to get round this by removing one of the brass fittings and buying longer springs at Stoneleigh. As you mentioned, the attached spring to retain the chrome surround should be towards the top of the scoop.

Thank you for the information. I did not think about using Series 1 bowls on my series 2. I talked to most of the suppliers and they supply a standard bowl with a replacement clip to let the chrome headlamp ring attach. Worked fine but at the bottom of the light and couldn't remove the ring when installed. I have ended up turning the bowl through 180 degrees and re drilling all the holes in the bowl. Took a morning but result is pleasing with clip at top and ease of removing chrome ring

Back to my rebuild. !!!
