In the process of stripping the N/S bulkhead area to attend to the paintwork around the upper bulkhead blanking plates and in the bulkhead recess area around the voltage regulator area.

I am thinking at the moment to also remove the brake master cylinder / servo and am wondering what the correct paint finish is behind the servo?

Currently it's stone-chip black (the same as the O/S). Should it be black - or body colour?

Secondly, the servo is not nice & bright as i'd like it although it functions correctly. What does everyone do? Strip it and replate, or just replace with a new item?

Lastly, what is correct position for he seatbelt anchorage oval plate on a Series 2? Mine currently is on the N/S bulkhead recess below the bonnet catch.

The bulkhead should be body colour in its entirety. The servo is a gold passivated finish . The easiest, and most functional refurbishment is to just repaint it with a gold paint and a satin lacquer

I don't quite understand about the seat belt oval plate you refer to - I have never seen any such plate at all, let alone in the location you refer to - it may just be, however, that on most cars they are missing

I presume this is what you mean?



If so, I think it is in the right place on the bulkhead but not 100%

That's true for today's repro servos but originals were cad plated AFAIK and therefore dull silver would be more correct I believe? People undoubtedly prefer golden bling as it looks prettier than weathered cad, but I don't think it's as original?

Peter : I do not know what S2 cars originally had - certainly my S2 is gold but it may, of course, be a replacement. If one wants a grey /silver finish, I have had good success on e.g. wiper motor bodies with "Steel Wheels "

Mine came with a silver one which, given the state, looked original.
Also confirmed by some documented pics seen.
A bit of sanding, then red anticorrosive primer followed by 2 silver finish coats.

I've only ever seen gold replacements, not originals, right through to V12s.

I have totally dismantled mine, bought the repair kit, and yellow - zinced the large "landmine" on the firewall end :-).
