I posted a question about "SU upgrade spec cams" as fitted to the car I'm picking up shortly. I've spoken with Rob Beere now and got an answer, which I thought others may find interesting, so I'm posting it as a separate thread here, as well as a reply on my original thread - hope that's ok! (Forgive the newbie if not!)
This is what they said:
Apparently the "SU upgrade cam" is a small performance increaser, specifically designed for those who retain SUs rather than go to Webers or similar. They said that if you increase cam duration, you lose idle and some torque, so this cam just increases lift rather than duration. He reckons idle and torque will remain the same, but BHP increase by typically 20bhp. Interesting guy to talk to.
Least I know now! And I can confirm that idle is steady as a rock at 700rpm
