#1 Brake pedal adjustment

Series 1 4.2 1966 brake pedal adjustment .
Despite everything on the brakes being BRAND NEW and properly bled, I still am not happy with the feel of the brakes. I wonder if the position of the brake pedal will affect the feel. I know the pedal is adjusted by the 1/4 unc setscrew and nut on the pedal housing. Do I just set it untill the pedal is level with the clutch pedal or am I missing something? If the setscrew is too far screwed in, will it limit the stroke of the master cylinder ?
All help gratefully received as I MUST get the car back on the road this yea.

Steve, by any chance was your pedal box ever dismantled? The brake pedal is connected to the pedal shaft via splines, and if the "clocking" is incorrect it is possible to end up with an incorrect pedal height. I know this from experience :oops:

I recommend using the splines on the brake pedal to get the pedals at the same height and only use the screw for any fine adjustment.

Trouble is its a pain to keep taking the pedal box apart so its best to set the pedal height where you want them when the whole unit is on the bench

Hello and thanks for the replies. They confused me re the splined shaft untill I consulted the parts list.
I have a 2+2 which is totally different to the OTS and FHC.
So now thats sorted does anyone know how to adjust the pedal?

If you loosen the locking bolt and tap a screwdriver into the slot in the pedal you can then ratchet the pedal around on the shaft.
