#1 Collapsing seat

Post by Bob Falfa » Sat Apr 19, 2014 7:21 am

The back of my passenger seat often collapses backwards, leaving my passenger stranded at a 45 degree angle, often after accelerating hard. Whilst this is highly amusing, I figured that, when my heavily pregnant niece experienced the afore mentioned collapse after going over a speed bump, I'd better do something about it before anyone gives birth in the footwell.

I think it's a fault of the seat back adjuster mechanism. Can anyone tell me how to get at this, and what the possible fault might be?

Sounds like the ratchet mechanism has given up. You don't need to upset the trim to get to it. Take the seat out and it should be obvious what is wrong. SNG sell replacements.

I had this problem with the drivers seat. The teeth on the locking mechanism where worn.
I pulled the hinge assembly apart and turned the toothed segment around.
It now works fine.
