#1 Powr lok help

Hi to all
I have acquired a replacement diff for my 2+2 series 1
Can any one advise if all the clutch assembly's are the same
And if not how to identify the difference whether 3,4,or five plate
It is a 4hu salisbury powr lok

Paul,
Hopefully I have answered this question in my reply to your other post - "Diff Knowledge" - in the Series 1 section.
The talk of 3 plate, 4 plate and 5 plate is a misnomer as they all have 5 plates of various designs on each side of the differential case, (10 plates in total). It is how you set them up and in what sequence that gives a reduction in active plate surfaces - if you wanted to reduce the wheel torque - such as on a front wheel drive car. Hopefully we don't want to do this in standard Jaguar rear axle form, so stick with the usual 5 plate configuration using one "Belleville" spring plate on each side of the differential case.
I am posting this here in the Technical section as others may find it of interest as it is relevant not just to Series 1 cars, but all Jaguars using the Powr-lok differential.
