I recently installed a used top frame onto my series 2.

Is there any adjustment to the side window frames.

One side has a lot of clearance and will accept the rubber seal and fits well against the window, the other side is a little tight. Once I add the seal it probably won't let the window sit inside the frame.

Any advice would be appreciated.

In the bottom of the door - you need to remove the door panel, you will find two brackets - front and rear, that secure the bottom of the window frame to the bottom of the door with bolts - 1/4" as I recall. These are adjustable and will permit you to move the bottom in and out and the top of the frame out and in.

Hi thanks for the comments, however, just to be clear. The window frame rails on the door seem to be adjusted fine. I was wondering if the top window opening itself can be adjusted. The top frame has a number of screws, Philips and flat head that seem to have some play available. If I loosen them and move the metal rails up, then the window on the door might fit into the opening better when the door is closed. Is this possible.

Not sure what you mean but, if it is the height of the window frame, you need to loosen the nut and bolt on the right angle bracket at the bottom, loosen the self tappers at the top and insert shims in between frame and door shell.

I think (please correct me if I'm wrong) that you are referring to having fitted a secondhand convertible soft top frame to your car. If so then you may be referring to the fit between the metal channels bolted to the side edges of the frame which carry the window seals for the top and rear edges of the side windows? This is usually called the cantrail. It is notoriously tricky to get a good match between window edge and cantrail on an OTS.

The cantrail edge pieces can be moved up and down (enlarging the fixing slots if necessary) and moved in and out by judicious bending or adding spacers to between rail and top frame.

It is also possible to adjust how high up out of the door the window rises. There is a metal stop, screwed into the channel in the winding mechanism which sets the top height. By making this stop longer or shorter (it's just a piece of metal bar with a hole in it) you can change how high the window rises and this can achieve adjustment between both the front edge of the window and the A pillar, and to the cantrail.

Hi, thank you to all for providing the necessary advice, I will look at adjusting the window height first and see how that goes. then if necessary tackle the cantrails. One way or another, it will be an improvement.
