Can anyone help? I'm trying to find out if my brake lines from the slave cylinder have been connected up correctly. I understand that on the early 4.2s the front port is connected to the front brakes, and the middle port is connected to the rear brakes. On later 4.2s they swapped them over.
Is it possible to identify whether my slave cylinder is an original, and thus connected up properly. Does it affect the bias on the front to rear braking?

Would really appreciate any comments

The slaves are the same regardless of which port goes where. Hook the brakes up however your lines work best.

Thanks Peter, that's great advice. So the bias of the front brakes over the rear brakes is not set from restrictions on the particular ports of the slave.

The bias of the brakes is dependent upon the diameter of the pistons in the respective wheel cylinders. People often use bigger ( eg XJ6 ) wheel cylinders on the rear calipers thinking that bigger is better. It isn't !

That's interesting. So, smaller cylinders would give greater braking...
- Elephants and high heels etc.
