Fuel filter - spraying fuel

Installed a Mangoletsi EFI system on the 4.2 engine (XJ6 sourced) in my 1966 series 1 2+2.
Switching the ignition key to on, I can hear the clicking of both fuel pumps for say 5 seconds.
The fuel filter bowl will fill to about 80% full.
Push the starter button and the engine turns over.
Happy days after 2 years of restoration.
At least until I noticed that the rubber gasket of the glass fuel filter had failed and the fuel pressure caused a spraying of fuel all over the walls in my garage (ok, self build car port...).
When I switched the engine off, the fuel filter bowl was full.
Bought a replacement rubber gasket, unscrewed the glass fuel bowl which caused some hissing (pressure escaping?) and installed the new rubber gasket, hoping that this would solve the problem.
No such luck. The 5 second clicking filled up the fuel filter bowl to about 80%, with no leaking.
Pushed the starter button, and this time, since I was standing next to the fuel filter, I got a proper showering in 95 octane, and not the wall...
Can it be that I am overtightening the fuel filter bowl and a such deform the rubber gasket? Probably, but is there a way to know the correct tightening without messing up the gasket?
Or, reading some other posts, could it be that I have an "air lock"?
Any suggestions most welcome!

Some of the bowls are plastic (although you would swear they were glass!) and can deform - I had one and it leaked. Suggest you buy a new glass bowl and try again. Alternatively buy a Filter King which will allow you to control the pressure: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=164

I would guess the fuel pump/pumps for the EFI system produce approx 40 - 60 psi , the original glass bowl filter is used to handling 2½-4 psi , that's probably why it is blowing apart !.

Thanks for the feedback.
I have the old xj6 fuel pump picking up fuel from the fuel tank, and a new EFi system fuel pump after the fuel filter under the bonnet.
The people from Emerald told me that they still used the original filter on their set up, so will run this "pressure" idea to them tomorrow.
Will start looking for another fuel filter set up anyway.

Well I got the feedback from Emerald that I should order a low pressure fuel pump.
This because they are not sure the Filter King pressure regulator would manage bringing the XJ6 injection fuel pump pressure down enough to avoid fuel filter gasket failing.

So looking for a low pressure fuel pump.
Since I am not a stickler for originality,I kind of like the idea of fitting the 3.8 submerged fuel pump - part number C19919*. SNG Barratt mentioned that they supply a modern solid state fuel pump, so quality issues should have been solved...
Does anybody have any experience with fitting this to a 4.2 engine?

On the other hand considering the price of above fuel pump, or even the standard AZX1308# fuel pump, what about generic brands of fuel pumps (less then £15-00 on ebay or amazon) "worth" a thought?
After all, the "main" fuel pump is located after the fuel filter as part of the EFI system.

With aftermarket fuel pumps (like the Facet) noise can be a problem, especially in a FHC. There was a Facet in my FHC when I bought it and it was unbearable - a constant thunk, thunk, thunk ... and no amount of isolation will cure it. Personally I would recommend either the stock 4.2 SU pump or the submersible although that is also noisy but you can't hear it with the engine running. You will hear the Facet!
