Hello all E-type guys :)

I have search this site for answers but need to ask my self

I have Bought my first jaguar, a series 2 E-type FHC..

It has had some modificartions done to the car the last years of previus owner..
Story is this:
a valve broke so teh piston/block was damages, so the old series 2 engine was taken out of the car and a newer seris 3 4.2 engine was put in (from a XJ6 86-87mod) so it has bigger valve head (is that correct?)and 9:1 comp.
it has been modified with aluminum flywheel has Engine oilcooler, series 1 intakemanifold with 3 su 2" carburators, has stainles steel headers and exhaust system, with 2" all way (only 2 silensers , normal 4)
has better ignition sytem and 7mm spark kables and so on..

the valves is "tikking" little, and i want to get them adjusted, but then i want to get some "bigger cam" in it at the same time!..
so have some got experiance with cam manufactors and so on?
I have seen many types and diiffert duration and lift..
some say "fast road" and 300 duration some 260 and same "fast road spec"
i would think a 270-280 ish duration with 0.400 would be good maybe after reading around???
what i s the original camshaft spec on 4.2 engine? have read 256 dur is that right?
and what needles on the carb is then needed with these spec?

so all tips wanted..

also where to buy Pistons (need them one day) whant 10:1 comp or more for resenble price..
going for throttle bodys then..

The rear axel is leaking oil.. in shaft seals,
How much work is this to get done? hours? and what to expecct to pay if a workshop is going to do it?

In short:

Iirc a Factory spec S3 is 8:1 not 9:1.

Even 9:1 is critical regarding pinking, due to swirl issues I think.

You could buy "how to power-tune ...." written by Des Hamill.

Axle leaks mean axle-out, this IS expensive. Think about a total overhaul of the IRS because once it's out it's a good chance to do so.... Alan slawson does a great Job on them, you May call him for an estimate.

My guess is 2-3k pounds.
