Are there any favoured timing chain and hydraulic tensioner manufacturers for the XK engine, and conversely any to avoid?
I am about to replace mine and am minded of the many discussions on this very topic in the Triumph Stag world (yes I have one of those as well). The chains in the Stag are not duplex but there are two and there is a hydraulic tensioner almost identical to the XK engine's.
There has been much discussion about Renold, Rolon, County, IWIS and others. Discussion about the chains and discussion about the tensioner - particularly about where the oil hole is in the aftermarket tensioners. Is it the same in the Jag world?
Which are the best to buy? I only want to do the job once.

The Renold is likely to be the best by a significant margin , as I think Renold were the original equipment manufacturer
