Ask your local brake place for a quote to resleeve. That will make your decision for you.

There are plenty of places that will resleeve brake cylinders. Where are you located? If you are in the US, I have used these guys with success: http://www.karpspb.com/sleeving.htm

Oh well, in the rather poor northern german part of Europe... Believe me, it is even Tricky to find a shop to Balance things.

Yes we have 14 dead noble Prize Winners on our cemetery, Max Planck and Otto Hahn for example, and even Gau? is Here, but No real machine Shops for this kind of Work. But a famous Weihnachtsmarkt ! Yes ! Stollen and Gl?hwein and Bratwurst !

Oh, i was just jokin'. Really, I Googled the relevant German words- and nothing comes up. Those guys here over are sooooo in fear for their safety that they won't touch these Things. At the moment, I think about Drilling it to 15 mm, glueing in a metric tube like 14 mm outer and 12 mm inner using Jb Weld, And Honing it to fit. But Worth the work ? Maybe really better to buy new....

Why has no one said 'replace'. ?30 for an OEM '#' part from SNG. Seems like a no-brainer. I would've guessed resleeving & rep-set would cost about the same.

Lots of bad experiences with repro units. I had two fail within minutes of fitting them. Down to the Chinese made seal I think (they work in metric, we work in imperial). I bought a NOS AP Lockheed slave off eBay for ?55 and it has been perfect. e.g. : http://tinyurl.com/l77ro3d

Thanks for the topic link (5864). Despite having spent many hours trawling and reading up on the technical stuff on the forum I am still pleasently suprised when such gems of info appear out of the blue. Much appreciation to those you spend the time to share the knowledge.

I also noted from Ray's posts that he has found The O Ring Store (.com) which seems to be able to provide all sorts of seals. I for sure will be keeping them in mind as and when my slave and master cylinders start to fail. May also strip them (not installed on car yet) and measure the seals in order to order up spares.

...........

I've just re-read Durango's post a few posts above .... I advise against drilling and epoxy glueing of pipes (sleeves) into the hydraulic cylinder ... it's a bodge bound to go wrong sooner or later
