#1 Boot Coil Springs on OTS

The coil springs that raise the boot on my OTS have lost much of their stiffness over the years such that the boot barely opens. Is there a neat solution to this? Regards, Peter.

Peter there are replacements out there and not too expensive.

I did come across this problem and used 2 small gas struts.

Not every ones cup of tea but neat and opens with a little more purpose

I can send you images if required

Fit new spring coils although it can be hazardous to your fingers. Full instructions are in the Forum Knowledge Base.

Peter,

With use, the five leaves in the spring packs tend to wear down and finally fracture. Hence the loss of lifting power.

It's a fiddly job to build up the spring packs. Just make sure you wear heavy duty gloves if you do replace with the brass springs.
