#1 Fumes

Chaps
My inlet configuration consists of open trumpets and therefore the breather routes to an alloy breather tank located where the original air filter cannister would have been located
The alloy breather tank is designed with 3 openings which vent - to the engine bay
The problem is whilst driving, the fumes / smell from the breather do encroach on the cabin. I've searched for any missing rubber bungs in the bulkhead area or transmission tunnel and these all seem to be sealed off correctly
Any suggestions? How does everyone else deal with breather tanks and / or is there another area such as the heater box that will draw engine bay smells / fumes into the cabin?

Sorry I must have missed your name. Recognise the username but remind me who you are please?
If you vent the catch tank with a hose running/pointing under the floor you may get road draught to suck the fumes away, but they are likely to return in traffic. You can check the heater box seal by visual inspection and/or test blobs of Blu Tak etc. The trans tunnel is a prime area of fumes ingress. Do you have the heat insulation foam present and an inner gaiter?

Heater box seal is good. I probably need to look at the trans tunnel a bit closer. The heat insulation foam and inner gaiter are present though

What about heater box to bulkhead seal and padding all around the heater core to heater box - especially the twin tub inboard end? The speedo cable has a big grommet and a blanking plug on the opposite side. The wiper motor is sealed to tge bulkhead as well and there should be bits of foam on the bonnet latch rods.

Seen it done once, can't remember where, but the car cockpit was filled with smoke from some sort of oderless smoke generator device, and then the guys studied the outside of the car looking for smoke leaks. Assuming there was a slight overpressure in the cockpit to get it to work.
Maybe a local theatre group or school disco could loan you a smoke machine.

In terms of the heater / fresh air controls and with the absence of the handbook i'm assuming:
Heat control - toggle lever pulled out is "cold"?
Fresh air from heater box - toggle lever pushed in is for outside (ram) air?
