Just fitted the windscreen to my series 1 OTS but found that the windscreen U channel for the top chrome strip is too thick/tight. Had the same problem before on another car when I used a sealant instead to bond and seal them.
Has anyone else had the same problem, and if so did you use a sealant or find a thinner U channel rubber section, or heat and stretch it out?

When I fitted the first supposed original windscreen on my S2, there was no rubber in the U channel. I used a single sided adhesive backed foam black tape used for window frames between the glass and the frame. Trimmed it first a bit, then applied it on the glass and pushed the chrome channel with a snug fit on top. Worked well till the windscreen delamination extended and got a crack. Replaced the windscreen with a new one and reapplied the same type of tape stretching it well to avoid creases.

I recently had my series 3 ots windscreen replaced. The fitter tried to trial fit the (SNG) top u rubber and gave up, same as you, as it's too thick. Black sealant stuff was used instead.
