Does anyone have a list / image / reference of all heat shields originally fitted to a series 1?

I am aware of the two shields underbody, the exhaust shield and the one close to it under transmission.

Browsed through the parts book and a few vendor sites with little luck, did the cars have shields where the bulkhead goes over towards the transmission tunnel? I have seen photos of some sort of aluminum sheeting being installed here, original, aftermarket? (the area outlined in red)

I'm not aware of any specific factory fitted heatshield for the area you have highlighted.
It is perhaps more likely that you have seen pictures of Dynamat, Koolmat or Zircoflex applied to that part of the transmission tunnel.

No heat shields in that area a good idea to some of the bitumen backed tin foil to stop heat transfer. I have it to my car and all inside the tunnel.

Just spray it with sound deadener "schutz". Then paint it body colour.
You can put insulation over the tunnel inside the car.
The factory fitted a large foam piece inside the tunnel cover; this just collects water and mice and I wouldn't bother with it.

A number of us have installed aftermarket heat shielding in the tunnel area. I used a product from DEI (diamond stamped aluminum with composite backing). Will send you photos of the installation if you PM me an e-mail address.

I and others have also installed additional heat shielding between the mufflers and the floor. My solution is shown at he end of the following linked thread.

Thanks everyone. I will spray that area with bitumen and use dynamat on the inside. Plan is to cover sills and transmission tunnel with dynamat on the inside of the tub.

Am not using dynamat on floors, prefer to have the possibility to take the floor mat/carpet out of car when storing for winter-extended time. It is possible to glue dynamat onto a thin/cheap rubber mat and have a removable insulator.

Suggest you use Kool-mat on the interior rather than Dynamat. If you want to use Dyna-mat then it would be better to apply it between the heat source and the body because it is designed to reflect heat. Kool-mat is designed to insulate the car from conducted heat. The Kool-mat concept is to line the interior with it glued down and the joins sealed with silicone sealant, in effect creating a sealed enclosure. Water cannot get in from the underside or the top side much like heat and noise. You can remove the carpets and felt but the rest of the tub will be sealed. viewtopic.php?t=181 and viewtopic.php?t=7269

I know that others have suggested differently but I find that this approach does work well for me.

You end up with a solid, sealed, waterproof exterior of the tunnel and do not have to worry about water ingress causing corrosion underneath externally applied insualtion, nor having the insulation fall off at some point. The tunnel area does end up getting oil, water and road dirt into it over time.

As David has said Kool Mat inside is good. Again I have this in my cars.

I followed up on your suggestion and the product is made by 3M and is called 3M Rocker Schutz Coating 08874 for anyone who is interested.
I am thinking I could use it as a coating for the whole underside of the car - mine has been coated with some form of rust proofing but needs replacing in some areas.
