Guys,

i don't know if this topic has already a thread about it... But I just can't find the way to adjust the inside lever that open the door.

Mine needs to do a very long travel to release the geared wheel of the door mechanism. That way, when the door panel is installed, the lever reach the border of the panel (and the chrome deco) before the geared wheel is fully release...

How can I adjust this? Of course, the lever is in it's horizontal position when not in action. I also realized that, when I begin to press on the lever, it needs to make half the total movement before starting to release the geared wheel, which is not the case if I operate via the door handle.

p.s. I have the S2 style door, with the lever on the lower end of the door


I think there is a way to adjust this via the door mechanism itself, not via the small mechanism at the door lever (where the return spring is).

I don't recall there being any adjustment for the internal lever.

The last page of the service manual (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/849 ... xhaust.pdf) shows the lever mechanism's operating rod connected directly to the release/lock arm (H) of the door lock. Has the operating rod been bent so it now needs to travel further?

One difference I've noticed is how your mounting bracket for the lever mechanism is attached to the door. Mine is attached from underneath.

I had that problem.
Someone had bent the operating arm inwards to avoid it fouling an extra long door pull/armrest fixing screw. This makes the arm effective length shorter. I cut the screw short and straightened the arm then all OK.

What is a bit annoying is that my car shouldnt have the arm rest/door pull..

I don't think it has anything to do with the problem you've encountered. It was just interesting to note that Jaguar must have changed how the mounting bracket was attached to the door frame during the S2 production run.

In your photo, the bracket appears to be secured by screws passing horizontally through the the door frame.

On my car, these screws pass vertically up through the base of the door frame. I don't have a photo but the illustration on the SNG site shows mounting brackets (part 16) that are similar to mine:

Could this be a difference between the S1.5 and S2?

Ok, now I understand.
Here is another view. Note how deep in the door's body the lever goes.

By seeing this, something comes in my mind: maybe the black plastic behind the lever (door handle recess plastic) is not deep enough. Maybe the inside door handle of S 1.5 cars go further than the chrome deco of the door panel, as there is (maybe) enough space for the handle between the deco, and the recess plastic...?

When I ordered new door panels, the shape of the panel did not fit my chromes. It is clear that there are differences between S1.5 and S2 doors.
