I could not find much information on this topic and being one of those dirty jobs one like to do once in two decades it could be of great value to have a list of possible joints.

Personally redoing the driveline (and everything else) in a 62 FHC and found a few options, ?ro, AC delco, Moog, Strange Engineering, Dana, Spicer and many "nonamers".

If I am correct the 62 Series 1 (applicable for 61-64?) has the following type of joints.

Halfshafts, universal joint style 1410
Driveshafts, universal joint style 1310

Halfshafts
DANA 5160X (5-160X) Greasable
MOOG 295 available in greasable and non-greasable styles.
?RO PARTS GUJ111 greasable
JLM9639 jaguar heritage part ?

Driveshaft
MOOG 280 greaseable
MOOG 369
ACDELCO 45U0107
ACDELCO 45U0111 non grease
MOOG 269

Experts, please add to the thread or correct any mistakes.

I did the halfshafts on my saloon myself (spicer joints, from barratts iirc) - the circlips supplied with the kit were a bit too thick for the slots in my halfshafts, but I had suitable ones in my shop spares assortment.

I took the driveshaft to a nearby GKN Driveline shop. They installed the U/Js, trued and balanced the shaft (with the sliding joint correctly aligned), and painted it for something in the order of 200 GBP. Changing U/Js and painting is a doddle, but I don't know anyone who can balance a D/S at home, and since you have no guarantee that it was balanced or true before or after you swapped the joints well worth the small additional expense.

Next time around I will probably take the halfshafts to GKN as well. I prefer U/Js with grease nipples, but about 10% of the time I end up getting the joint in only to find a nipple is pointing the wrong way, or out of phase with the other end. With GKN you take it in, discuss what you want, and pick it up 2 days later.
