#1 wiper park cable

Post by adam » Mon Nov 09, 2015 4:45 pm

Hi, can anyone tell me if you can fit the wiper park adjuster cable to the rack when its already in the car, or do I have to drop the rack or remove the rack.

It can be fitted in the car but it is very fiddly and you need small hands

Thanks also trying to work out how it attaches to the rack. Mine did not come with one, got one from Richard Smith. The end of the cable sits on slotted part on rack body where does L shaped clip fit on to.

Unscrew it as far as you can using the knurled nut, it clips onto the top of the rack with the spring between the two parts and then you tighten the knurled nut and it compresses the spring and pushes the two parts together which adjusts the parking position.

Let me know how you get on Adam - Its one of the very few things on my car that post rebuild I could never get to work. But I have got quite good at turning off the wipers at the right moment :)

Found the problem, PO had screwed finger swipe arm to the rack frame!
Perhaps without the cable he wanted to keep the arm out of the way. Spent 3 hours being James Herriott now I know the problem will finish job when I take car off the road, when the salt hits!
