Hi Adam.
I still have an original Dunlop clutch master cylinder in my '66 4.2, from experience, just make sure that any seal kit you get for it is purposed for a Dunlop unit as opposed to Girling............the seals whilst may be potentially having the same bore size ain't the same.......!!
Found out the hard way.
Best, Neil

I bought a new Dunlop master cylinder from XK unlimited. I had to replace the original as it was too far gone to change the seals....although I did try that first.
So far absolutely fine. No leaks and no problems. Ordered by internet and had it withing about ten days from the us of a. Looks absolutely identical although does not have the part no cast into the iron as the old one does. Once in though you would need a mirror to find that out!
Just be aware that the outlet that goes to the clutch slave is not in quite the same point as on the later girling cylinder so far as I can tell - you probably realise that - so if you are going from one to the other you may need to massage the outlet pipe slightly to allow it to fit.
The only issue I has was bleeding the system....pain in the a@#e but got there eventually. Don't waste time with an ezebleed. That is a recipe for fluid all over the place. Just a pipe jar and non return valve on the slave nipple and stamp on the pedal REALLY hard a few times. Having a mate helps. He/she stamps and keeps the reservoir topped up while you attend underneath.

I too have the Dunlop style master cylinder fitted. Everything lined up exactly as per the original one (which I also couldn't save with a re-sleeve) and bled really easily. Delivery was similarly quick.

The only thing I had to do was spray it per the original colour.
