#1 Headlamp Switch

Hi Guys
My main headlight switch seems to have failed, fuse is OK but no meter reading across the switch. Sidelights switch works fine. Is there any reason why I cant use the spare switch on the right hand end of the panel as it tests out fine with the meter so obviously hasn't been swapped before? All advice appreciated as I'm new to Etype ownership and haven't yet sourced a manual.
Many thanks

Dear Colin,

It depends on how heavy duty the contacts are on the spare switch. You ought to find that the headlamp switch has quite a lot of current across it and the other switch may have simple flimsy thin brass contacts instead of the much heavier gauge material in the headlamp switch.

You should be able to dismantle the original and work out what is wrong with it - they are generally bullet proof.

This is also a good reason to emply a relay driven solution.

kind regards
Marek

Thanks Marek
I think the spare switches were originally put in for heated rear screens on hard tops- I would think that would have been a reasonable load. I presume the switches just pop out?
