I'll be moving to rebuilding the rear end here shortly and wanted to order the parts.

From another thread I saw the consensus on shocks was Boge -> Gaz -> Koni. Anyone know the difference between the Welsh Boges vs the XKS Boges? They are visibly very different in the pictures.

Does anyone have a shopping list of what's typically needed to rebuild the suspension & diff (86k miles)? SNG seems to have a lot of "kits" but not sure which are "givens" and which are "only if needed".

Appreciate the sharing of your collective wisdom! I'll look for the walk-thrus later but thought I'd get stuff ordered as E-type often means "E-xpensive parts" and "E-xtended backorder times" 8)

Working on my third diff rebuild in 10 months I found all have needed all bearings and seals. Normal replacement items. Some shims were needed to get correct bearing setup. We used Timken bearings however there may be some less expensive ones that interchange. The Hubs and IRS were also done as a complete rebuild. The cost for bearings, seals and shims for one IRS came to about $1000 (USD) Shocks and brakes not included.

It helped to have someone assist from time to time and a hydraulic press made some work easier. The stub axles and hubs could be setup before pressing axles in using large long bolts in place of the axles.

The gears were in great condition as were the clutches even though all manner of wear affected the bearing surfaces. These were 3.8 and 4.2 series 1 units.
