#1 Brake pipe

Hi all,

Just refitted my pedal box along with brake/clutch master cylinders. I've realised that the feed pipes to the cylinders (from the resovoirs) are 1/4 and not 3/8! Whilst I have a load of 3/8 tubing along with all the bending and flaring tools, I don't have any 1/4 tubing or tools :-(

I reckon I need three lengths of about half a metre of 1/4" copper nickel tubing - if any of you have some spare stock, and a flaring tool, please let me know. I will cover the cost of all materials along with time and postage.

SNG sell the pipes ready made up but at about ?15 each!

Cheers.

Simon, these would be C17385+C17387, correct?
Do you happen to know the male union references?
I was thinking that it would be much simpler to have a male union with a push-on side for the flexible feeding pipe to connect directly. Unless there are good arguments against such approach.

Hi Ralph,

The male unions for the feed pipes are 7/16". I have never seen a brake union with a built in push on pipe. I presume the reason for this is due to the fact that flexible hydraulic pipe is more pricey then goog old copper?

That first one isn't any good as it seals via the copper washer and there isn't a flat surface on the rear of the MC to seal against. The second item looks ok though.

However, there really isn't any need for these as the correct and easist way to go is as per original, and just source the correct parts.

Cheers.
