Spin off Oil filter fitment
#1 Spin off Oil filter fitment
I am fitting an SNG spin off filter kit. I was just wondering whether there are any tricks to what looks like a simple job? I was tempted to apply some well seal to the seal around the adaptor where it fits into the groove in the housing. perhaps over kill but would be interested in others experiences.

Stick with the stock filter system if you still have it would be my advice!

I installed one. Once I figured out how it went together it was a simple process. I didn't feel the need for lube or sealant anywhere.

#4 Oil filter
Agree... There ain't nothing wrong the the original filter. Easy to change. Filters are cheap. Change my oil at least yearly and no issues so far..easy job.

I fitted the latest SNGB spin-on at the weekend, the larger O ring supplied was a snug fit in the groove, I didn't use any sealant and my previous leak seems to have gone. I didn't want to use my original canister as a few parts of it were missing.

ummh. Thank you chaps. Well I didnt have the filter housing or canister with this engine, so it seemed like a good option to go with the spin off. It not a difficult thing to change back if required I suppose, as long as the loctite gives up its grip ( gently warm loctite to loosen i have been told) . Anyway, its bought now! thanks again

#7 Oil filter
Well if you did not have one a spin on one probably makes sense. J

This should be time enough. Anything to report? Success, problems, leaks?

Plug and Play so to speak. It was perfect and I think will go on my next restoration as it just makes the job easier and less messy. Not much more to say to be honest.
