#1 Blanking grommets

Post by Simonpfhc » Tue Mar 22, 2016 8:39 pm

Hi all,

In the floor and various other places, there are numerous holes that need to be plugged. These are not wiring grommets but grommets that completely seal the hole.

Does anyone know if any of the usual suppliers provide a kit that has all the blanking grommets needed?

Cheers.

Simon, I bought a few grommets off fleabay, pretty cheap, think they were 9 and 19mm but would need to check, they are readily available, hope this helps, Geoff

Mine had sharped edged thin sheet metal "plugs" that seemed more likely to seed rust than to prevent ingress of water or exhaust fumes. I suspect that's factory.

In addition to eBay, Amazon has rubber grommet (with holes) and plug assortments by Cal-Hawk. There are plastic plugs available too but my sense is that would risk scraping the thin layer of paint on the edges of the holes so I'm going with rubber even though they are a bit thicker.

Thanks for feedback everyone, much appreciated.

Andrew - I've scoured the SNG website but couldn't see a kit, so will give them a ring.

Cheers.

No worries. I keep a spreadsheet of everything I ever bought for each car so I can find stuff again if I need it.

Impressive.

Wish I'd thought of that four years ago!

#10 blanking grommets

Post by dbarnes » Sun Mar 27, 2016 9:39 pm

I have bought blanking grommets individually from Autosparks online catalogue. They are listed by size, or packs

Thanks dbarnes,

That looks like it may be a better way to go as the kits from SNG, whilst I'm sure are comprehensive, seem extremely expensive ad I don't need the larger gearbox tunnel grommets.

Cheers.
