#1 Getrag oil?

Hi,
I'm thinking of changing the oil in my 5-speed Getrag gearbox. The 'box isn't giving problems but I would like to make the change lighter as it is difficult to change quickly, especially on acceleration.
I have heard that Redline is the way to go buy not sure of the grade/type best suited. I'm also prepared to consider other oil types. Any recommendations, remember this is for a Getrag unit, which I think is normally recommended to have Automatic transmission fluid.

Castrol Syntrans 75w-85 would be my pick. Certainly in Landrover R380 gearboxes which originally ran ATF, the Syntrans is a viable alternative and improved gearchanges and wear characteristics over the ATF.

The Getrag as used by Jag from 84 to 97 switched recommendation from 75W-90 to ATF at some point early on - to help baulky changes when cold IIRC.
I ran ATF in my Series 2 conversion and didn't like the feel, so put in Castrol SMX-S. This gave a noticeably slicker feel which improved the smoothness of the change. Of course the car got nicked after 18 months or so and about 8K miles so I can't comment on longevity.
Jaguar also specified a humungous steel gear knob the size of a mandarin orange, to help the gearchange quality (mass x velocity and all that). If you have a normal or light gear knob on a Getrag you will diminish change smoothness on what is never the slickest box anyway.

Thanks for the answers guys, I'll have to see what's available locally. I actually have a pretty heavy gear knob, which I acquired from SNG some months ago. It is steel, similar to the original 4 - speed knob but has the Getrag shift pattern.

My Getrag out of a Commodore VS V8 has ATF in it and I will be changing to Syntrans when it is on the road.
Royal Purple Oils may be hard to find locally but have a good reputation but Syntrans is available anywhere (is not cheap though).
The Castrol SMX-S mentioned by Peter is now CASTROL SYNTRANS MULTIVEHICLE 75W-90 (according to Mr Google) but I am not sure it is available here.
Depending whether your Getrag is the Jag or BMW version I would check what it originally had and look for the modern alternative.
