Handbrake cable series 1 2+2 replacement

Hi
Have refitted IRS with new handbrake mechanism upgrade (still unsure about this reading comments, however it's in)
Old cable is now too long as I think it has stretched also ( metal outer)
Ordered a new cable (plastic outer with inner) but it doesn't come with the bracket that's secures the outer to the tunnel wall just before the handbrake mechanism
Do I just open it up slightly and then reuse it on the new cable also the old cable has a shroud on the end which secures the end of the cable in the bracket
